On a mission for and with love

Updated: Nov 20, 2019

Marcia Pierluisi, With love, Puerto Rico’s founder, is very pleased with the success she has reaped throughout the two years since the organization was created. According to what Pierluisi shared with ReStart Puerto Rico, With love, Puerto Rico is an organization that promotes community service, volunteer work and love for others.

"I was born to serve, and to love", said Marcia, who is also a lawyer. Marcia, who works alonside family members including her mother and a group of approximately 12 volunteers, effusively explained that she wants to impact the Puerto Rican community by showing love and doing everything with and for love. She also shared that she is enormously pleased with the support that With love, Puerto Rico has received from generous donors that contribute in various ways.

The organization, whose name was born from the notion that the aid it provides is from Puerto Rico for Puerto Rico, works primarily with shelters and foster homes for abandoned children and young adults, despite working with elderly homes in its early days.

Pierluisi shared that With love, Puerto Rico, founded in December 2014, has already impacted some 1,000 children and young adults, and seeks to help more. The organization is dedicated, as Pierluisi also cordially explained, to organizing donations of school supplies throughout the year. After collecting enough goods, they create bundles that include backpacks, crayons, and other items needed for school.

Thus, once the time comes for the long-awaited return to school, hundreds of children receive their materials so that they can go to school. This is just a fraction of the work that With love, Puerto Rico organizes.

On the other hand Marcia explained that, while spending time with young people aged 18 to 21 who reside in group homes she realized that it is very important for her to make a difference and leave a mark on the children with whom she works. "Nothing much can be done about this". she said, praising the countless people who have joined the cause and contributed to positively impacting hundreds of children in Puerto Rico.
